Pitti Uomo 88
Amazing installations, striking colours and lights effects, and Moschino as Guest Menswear Designer. From 16th to 19th June, Fortezza Da Basso in Florence is going to be transformed in a realm of colour by set design curator Oliviero Baldini. Created to host the key summer trade fair Pitti Uomo 88, historic international men’s fashion and lifestyle event. The fair theme this summer will be “that’s Pitticolor!”: a journey into colour and style through 1150 brands, but also special sections devoted to research, new design talents, futuristic visions, extreme and alternatives trends.
And it is at this next edition that Pitti Uomo will collaborate for the first time with talented directors, who will make digital art fashion films inspired by the fair topics. The exhibition will start for the occasion with a spectacular video by director Luca Finotti who reinterprets colour in an “action painting” perspective.
An edition that promises to be full of innovations, since the presence of women’s fashion that instead of just being limited to a specific area, will be distributed throughout the whole area of the fair in addition to men’s fashion.
‘Open’, the new project which offers a sophisticated interpretation of new generation collections that move beyond gender concepts: a special selection of clothing and accessories designed to be worn by him or her.
A lot of news, but also some appreciated returns, as Dirk Bikkembergs, which has once again choose Pitti Uomo to present its collection of lingerie and swimwear, with a live performance event, and Geox set up in an independent space in ‘Cortile dei Medici’, where it will launch the new collections, including fashion and technology.
Guest Womenswear Design is Thomas Tait, a young and whimsical London designer, already weel-known in the international scene, will entertain the audience with a special event at ‘Limonaia di Zanobi del Rosso’, while the Project Designer of the fairs and creative director of Kilgour, Carlo Shreds, will present his men’s collection with a site-specific performance.
As always, Pitti Uomo pays tribute to great masters who have created the history of Italian fashion, and for this year Nino Cerruti will be the protagonist. With an exhibition by himself he will showcase his nearly fifty years of work in the world of men’s fashion.
The exhibition will continue offering an endless array of events, appointments and meetings organized not only within the walls of the Fortezza da Basso, but also in the cult places and streets of Florence.
